Please host a tivo party for Extras. How does that brillant Ricky Gervais do it!
Florida and the Gulf Coast states are hunkering down...
in anticipation for the impact of Hurricane Rita. Currently, Matthew's work crew, from Clay Electric Co-op in Keystone Heights, Florida is in Franklinton, Louisiana, working 16 hours a day to restore power. He and his crew are sleeping on the floor of a church to provide what help they can to the families suffering from the aftermath of Katrina. Should Hurricane Rita cross their path they'll be sent home to Florida. Just in time too, Matthew is getting married soon. Real soon.
It is a bitter sweet reminder of papa and grandma's wedding. It was a year of great rain in Florida. The wooden bridge across Black Creek, the only route to the church, was washed completely away a day before their wedding was scheduled. Papa had to swim across the surging creek with his wedding suit and shoes on his head to get to the church on time.
Let's hope Orlando is dry the weekend of Alisha and Matthew's wedding.
"I'll be so good if I can just see that baby married. That's all I ever want." - grandma
"What's she saying?" -Dad
"She's saying she wants to go to Matthew's wedding."
"think about death. your death. dying. stop fearing death so you can start living more fully."
is this group therapy and i didn't get the memo?
no matter the food is excellent.
oh, and what makes you think i'm not living fully? i have a pedicure. but i do need a hair cut.
"I'm going to donate blood for Katrina..."
"But maybe they think I'm too skinny."
(no, they think you're too crazy)
Looking for my Okinawan grandfather has proved been more difficult than imagined. It's made it more of a challenge since we only know his last name Unten, a major city in Okinawa. My neighbor who is white and grew up in Japan says it's an uncommon name.
The best advice I've received came from a nice lady at the Okinawa Tourism Bureau.
Dear Donna-san:
Unfortunately we can only say "Unten" is a family name common in northern
Okinawa, although the name spreads widely among Okinawa. Specifically, it has been popular family name in Nakijin, Nago, and Chinen areas.
From the information you provided, what it can be advised is to collect a
little more specific information on your grandfather and interview elderly
people in the area where Unten is resided. If you could provide his first
name, birth place and date, and/or his personal background, it might be
possible to trace his personal record.
We sincerely wish very best luck on your family search.
