i found my rose, again

I think we first meet in 5th grade. Her dad was the funny wacky elementary school principal with the rainbow overalls. He had and old slr camera that could take 62 frames per roll (or something like that) he had used in Vietnam that I still wonder about.

In the 5th grade we both wore those tragic grandma style of glasses with the arm of the glasses attached at the bottom of the lens then bent upwards and back to hook on to the ears. I don't know what common interest brought us together.
She was in girl scouts, later a flag girl, then jazz or tap. I still cherish the picture of her at her high school job. Her in her ladies Hardee's uniform hanging out of the drive through window giving the camera the "bird" with a smile. Her perky brown kitten eyes, joker smile and brown striped polyester uniform. Poetry.
There's also that video footage of her at the 10-year high school reunion I was always meaning to watch but lost. Now, she's married to a Colorado boy no less living in Cali her dream.
That is what pushed me over the edge she was married. Out of us girls from high school I was so excited to hear she had married. I was robbed of the opportunity to go to my best friend's wedding. As teens we had poured over wedding magazines and picked out a hundred different dresses and grooms. Had Rose and I been speaking, maybe she would have invited me to her wedding at a winery, or not. I can't even remember why we didn't keep in touch. But I felt like she was a sister who's voice I couldn't remember.
So we're hoping to catch up, maybe even see each other in Cali. But even if that doesn't work out and we don't get to see each other this time I'm just glad to know she's happy.
